O carretel tem mangueira semirrígida enrolada num tambor e pode ser usado por uma só pessoa sem desenrolar a mangueira toda: é um meio de primeira intervenção. A boca de incêndio tipo teatro tem mangueira flexível, que tem de ser totalmente estendida antes de abrir a água, e é um meio de segunda intervenção.
Que comprimento de mangueira devo escolher: 20 ou 25 metros?
Depende da distância a cobrir a partir de cada boca de incêndio. Os 20 m chegam para corredores e espaços médios; os 25 m são indicados para armazéns, pavilhões e corredores compridos. O número e a posição dos carretéis estão definidos no projeto de segurança contra incêndio do edifício.
O carretel de incêndio precisa de manutenção?
Sim. Segundo a NP EN 671-3, deve ser inspecionado e mantido todos os anos por um técnico qualificado, e a mangueira deve fazer um ensaio de pressão a cada 5 anos.
Posso instalar um carretel sem caixa?
Sim. O carretel sem caixa fica exposto na parede, sempre visível e de acesso imediato. Em zonas com público ou risco de vandalismo, é preferível um carretel com caixa metálica.
